Best Warzone aim assist (type & settings)

Quick answer
On controller, keep aim assist on Standard (or Black Ops depending on feel) and the Dynamic response curve. Aim assist doesn't aim for you: it slows the reticle near a target and follows its movement. You maximize it by moving the left stick (strafe) and playing close.
Aim assist is what makes controller aim competitive. It does not aim for you: it slows the reticle near an enemy and follows their movement. Set up and used well, it's a huge advantage. (The rest of your aim is in our controller settings.)
Which aim assist type to choose
- Standard: the default choice for most — balanced and reliable.
- Black Ops (Default): a "stickier" feel on target, liked by many players.
- Precision / Focusing: more situational (assistance mostly very close to the target). Reserve for when you already have the fundamentals.
Our pick: start on Standard, test Black Ops for a few matches, keep the one that makes you most consistent.
How aim assist works
Two mechanics combine:
- Slowdown: the reticle brakes when it passes over an enemy.
- Rotational: the reticle follows the moving target — but only if you move the left stick.
That's the key: no movement, no rotational aim assist.
How to maximize it
- Move the left stick (strafe left/right) during every duel: that's what triggers tracking.
- Play close/medium range: the assistance is strongest at those distances.
- Dynamic response curve: the best blend of center precision and responsiveness (detailed in our controller settings).
- Keep a mastered sensitivity: too high and you overshoot the aim-assist zone (see our sensitivity guide).
